After you baby is born it is very beneficial for you and your baby to be skin to skin. You both deserve to be skin to skin. Lie back comfortably, (your birth Doula can help get you comfortably positioned) let gravity hold the baby bare to your bare chest. The importance of skin to skin within the first 2 hours of birth has been shown study after study. The measurements, ointments, etc., can wait while you form this special bond between you and your new baby.
Skin to skin after birth helps to:
~Stabilize your baby’s heart rate, breathing and temperature
~Stabilize your own temperature
~Prevent baby blues later on
~Reduce your baby’s stress

~Reduce your stress
~Increase interactions between you and your baby

It’s your right to have your baby close to you!
